Neaw what does the word “gradely” mean? Well I’ll do my gradely best
To gie yo’ a gradely hint on it, an’ your own sense mun do th’ rest;
For in business or in wedlock, or in walkin’ ropes like Blondin,
There’s nowt mooar satisfactory than a gradely understandin’.
Well, here’s off for a gradely start. I hope this gradely book
Will gie yo’ mony a gradely lowf – if it doesn’t — well, gullock!
May yo’ aw be gradely husbands, gradely childer, gradely wives,
An aw keep doin’ gradely weel in gradely happy lives;
May yo’ aw have gradely wark, an’ play – an’ gradely wages, too;
May yo’ aw have a bit o gradely sense, an’ ne’er be a gradely foo’;
May yo’ have a gradely time on earth, for seventy years an’ seven (an’ lunger, if yo’ want’n) then be gradely fit for heaven;
May we ha’ some gradely politics, gradely trade and gradely weather,
An’ may we aw both greit an’ sma’ poo gradely weel together,
Till this lond of eaurs, this Britain , wi’ th’ Union Jack unfurled,
Is th’ very gradeliest country in a gradely sort o’ world.
