Moments of youth, oh, how swiftly they roll,
And yet they are priceless as mountains of gold.
Redeem them, redeem them, oh don’t let them fly,
You never can recall them, when once they pass by.
Jewels, though rare, may be lost in the sand;
And others obtained from a far distant land.
Not so with youth’s moments; when once they are gone,
Even thus they’ll remain, till eternity’s dawn.
Wisdom, bless’d wisdom, she speaks unto all,
In the summer of life, prepare for the fall.
Like apples of silver, or pictures of gold,
So prize the rich moments of youth as they roll.
Oh! lady remember, the diamond that shines,
No beauty reveals until dug from the mines.
