    We are proud of Will's efforts in the classroom and we are glad to see that he is being recognized for his accomplishments. We hope this will bode well for him as he attempts to repeat as a first team Academic All-America selection.

    Making the All-America team for a second straight year shows how consistent Heather was for our program. This is quite an honor for an outstanding athlete.

    The guy who had the biggest challenge (on Tuesday) was Overmyer. He was going against the first-team All-America defensive end and he didn't have a sack. Overmyer was matched up with that kid all night long. We threw 40 some times and only ran the ball six times. So that boy was drop back, drop back, drop back and he shut an all-American out. That's pretty good.

    Nike is honored to be involved with the WBCA High School All-America Game. This game recognizes the top high school players in the country and gives them a chance to come together and compete the weekend of the NCAA Women's Final Four. We recognize the importance of women in sports and would like to congratulate all the participants

    It doesn't take a Rhodes scholar, ... if a guy is shooting 41 percent and a guy is shooting 53 percent, who the best shooter in the country is. If he played in the East, he'd be first-team all-America. He'd be the number one two-guard in the country.



    This puts us on the youth basketball map. There's all-star games, but this is the all-star game. It's the one everybody knows. There's lots of All-America teams, but when you say McDonald's All American, that's special. That game and those kids, to be playing here in San Diego, we're the basketball capital of the world for three or four days.

    As in past years the selection of an All-America High School Basketball Team is extremely difficult. Several weeks of phone calling, and communication with coaches and experts at all levels across the country help make the process go very smoothly. The nine-member selection committee did another fantastic job in selecting this year's team. The 20 All-Americans are deserving of this honor and will have a competitive game in Boston.

    Patrick had an outstanding season and is most worthy of this additional first team All-America recognition. He plays with great passion and has worked hard to become one of the finest linebackers in the country.

    He ran well. He got off to a real good start, tripped up on a few hurdles in the middle, but what counts is that he scored and earned All-America recognition. I think this is redemption for being left out of last year's indoor meet.

    We certainly swam a lot better today than yesterday. I'm excited for our relay. One of our goals was to see everyone score and earn honorable mention All-America status, and it looks like we'll get that accomplished.



    The quarterback was Condredge Holloway part of the time, but Randy Wallace and Pat Ryan also played. Larry Seivers was my roommate. He was a two-time All-America (receiver) while I was there. Stanley Morgan was a tailback and wingback from South Carolina. He ran back kickoffs. He was a great football player. The first day I saw him I said, 'oh,' because I was a cornerback and would have to defend him in practice. He could play today. Andy Spiva still holds the record for the most tackles in a career.
