Wayne Gandy Quotes (19 Quotes)

People don't really understand that a lot of those people are not going back to New Orleans. You don't rebuild ghettos.

In a nutshell, it feels like training camp hasn't stopped,

It's a home game only in the sense that we don't have to bus or fly anywhere. However this season turns out, I'm quite sure that if somebody writes a book about Katrina, they would have to devote a chapter to the New Orleans Saints who had an entire season in disarray.

It's been emotional for us, but we're not in the same situation as the people in those shelters. It was a good break for us to just be able to go out and play football, but it's not all about us anymore.

He has a power-runner's mentality. You still have to catch him, but he doesn't run for the sideline, his first thought isn't to make a move on you, and he has a strong stiff arm.

The Saints are thankful San Antonio stepped in. For at least the rest of the season, this is their home. The team is housed in the downtown Marriott Rivercenter Hotel. Commerce and Bowie Street, ... They have a good sandwich in there. The Texas Stacker. It comes with fries. But yeah, I'm a little tired of it.

We've been emotionally wiped out. We're not in the same situation as the people that are in those shelters. But as far as trying to win a football game ...

The guys just feel like he let us down. Today is the last day of practice and that's almost four months since we've been here. And at no point in those four months did he find the time to stop by. It almost feels like it's just a PR move at this point.

And the pregame assessments of Karney and tight end Ernie Conwell rang true. I know everybody was pouring their hearts into everything they did today, ... That's what has been missing from the Saints playing with emotion, playing with heart, not getting down when something bad happens.

That makes them away games. Anytime you get on a plane and pack a bag, it must be an away trip.

I was a little disgusted about people making at least six-figure incomes worrying about anything. Sometimes you forget to think of the lesser man. Sometimes you forget to put things in perspective.

We all feel if we can just cut that out . . .. We've proven that, the two games when we had zero to few penalties and zero to few turnovers, we've won.

We were playing to show people how New Orleans feels -- the resolve to push on and come back. And, at least for today, this team exemplified that.

It was a good game I think, on both sides. They had an untimely turnover, we had one. I think it was a very even-flow game,

We were 3-13, so you expect changes in coaching and in personnel. I'm proud that the team did fight. It wasn't like we had a bunch of Green Bay games (a 523 loss on Oct. 9). We lost three or four games as the clock ran out, and even today was a good game.

Our situation is uncomfortable. But for the people in New Orleans it's catastrophic.

It felt 100 times better than what we've been doing. It's just one game, so that home atmosphere hasn't gotten around completely. But not getting on an airplane and going somewhere -- it's not like those were one-hour flights. Last week's trip to Minnesota was the shortest, and it was three hours. It's been a haul. You keep doing that week in and week out, it's hard. As a team, we've got to do the best we can with these games that are in San Antonio.

We wanted to give those people in the shelters something to cheer about.
